Gifted by Eran, this work is a self-help guide backed by medical research about how to live longer. In some ways it is preaching to the (Future Trends) converted. The idea at heart is to embrace what Attia calls ‘Medicine 3.0’, akin to shifting medicine/healthcare from reactive to preemptive. If we want to live longer, we need to take steps now. Beyond describing how diseases (all interlinked) develop, Attia provides advice on how to ward off heart disease, diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer's. The solution: no silver bullet, but the necessity of having a strategy based around exercise (stamina, strength and stability), diet, sleep and mental health. At times, Outlive veers a little too much into an Attia confessional (how he had to change his own life). It is also a little too Californian and aspirational in places. Nonetheless there are many useful vignettes that I will likely take away and seek to incorporate.
