Publisher announcement
“On an ordinary morning at a leisure centre on London's Edgware Road, seven strangers arrive expecting nothing more than another day. Every morning they pass each other by without a second glance but this morning will be different.”
With echoes of David Szakay’s All That Man Is, Zadie Smith’s NW and John Lanchester’s Capital, this absorbing novel tackles the fallout when seven lives collide on an ordinary morning.
Seven strangers, seven ordinary lives. A grieving Underground driver. An ambitious solicitor. A nervous pizza-shop assistant. An ageing widower. A Polish labourer. A successful financier. And the young receptionist who quietly observes them all.
When a casual conversation turns to the murder of a local teenager, the invisible threads connecting their lives begin to tighten. Beneath the surface lie old wounds, buried secrets and choices that can never be undone.
Over the course of a single morning, everything they have hidden from one another—and from themselves—will be brought into the light.
